Mariah Carey 'doing well' post split from billionaire beau James Packer

Mariah Carey finds it "difficult" to discuss her split from billionaire fiance James Packer.

The Hero singer began dating the Australian business mogul in June last year (15), with James proposing with a 35-carat diamond ring in New York in January (16).

However, last month (Oct17) Mariah’s representative confirmed the couple were taking a break following a fight while they were on holiday in Greece (Sep16).

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday (23Nov16), host Ellen asked Mariah how she was doing following her tumultuous year, which also included the finalizing of her divorce from Nick Cannon this month (Nov16).

"How are you, mentally?" Ellen asked the superstar. "Are you happy? How are you?"

"I think I'm doing well," Mariah answered. "No, I'm actually...Everything happens for a reason…Things are the way they are."

The Grammy Award-winner did not delve much deeper into the current state of her relationship with James. Though she did insinuate it was awkward that he was involved in her eight-episode docu-series Mariah's World, which is set to air on the E! Network on 4 December (16).

"It's kind of difficult to talk about it at the moment," she explained, perhaps wanting to save the drama for her own show, before changing the subject to dissuade Ellen from probing any further. "So, I'm just going to compliment you on these decorations once again because they are fabulous, and I am here, among them."

Earlier in the program, the mother-of-two arrived on set in a "festive" red robe, which she removed to reveal a sexy black dress.

Along with promoting her new reality TV series, Mariah is busy with the recent launch of her new makeup line with MAC Cosmetics.

In December (16) she is set to perform in VH1's upcoming Divas Holiday: Unsilent Night TV event alongside her godmother, soul legend Patti LaBelle.
