Margot Robbie and Alexander Skarsgard tested balance with tree sex in Tarzan
Actress Margot Robbie and her Tarzan co-star Alexander Skarsgard literally reached new sexual heights while shooting the film.
The actors play love interests Tarzan and Jane in the latest movie adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs story about a feral character raised in the jungle by apes, and to perfect their characters, the A-listers tapped into their animalistic core while filming innovative love scenes.
"We just did that scene in a tree - our first kiss scene. Having
sex in a tree, as you do," Robbie tells Entertainment Tonight while
describing just one of the many surreal lovemaking sequences.
The 25-year-old Australian star confesses both she and Skarsgard
became so absorbed in their characters while filming the scenes,
they literally felt as if they had become beasts before the camera,
with Robbie explaining: "This is what passion looks like. We ripped
my costume just a wee little bit, but that's alright."
And castmate Skarsgard reveals their new film offers an
unprecedented sensuality to viewers, something made obvious by the
passionate, carnal lovemaking.
"It's almost if the novel (Tarzan of the Apes) and all the
adaptations are about taming the beast," he explains. "This (movie)
is about releasing the beast."
The plotline for the new Tarzan movie starts out tame by
spotlighting the titular character's civil life in England, where
he lives an aristocratic life under the name John Clayton. While in
the U.K., he is married to Margot's character Jane and she ends up
tagging alongside her husband when he reconnects with his Tarzan
personality after being summoned back to the jungles of Africa on a
diplomatic mission.
Tarzan, which also stars Christoph Waltz, is released on 1 July
(16).
