Lionel Richie's daughter signs modelling contract

Lionel Richie's daughter Sofia is set to embark on a modelling career after landing a contract with a major agency.

The 16 year old has signed a deal with Select Model Management, home to such supermodels as Irina Shayk, Jessica Hart and Agyness Deyn.

Sofia has already made an impression in the fashion world, having walked the runways during New York Fashion Week and been featured in Flaunt magazine and Who What Wear, in which she was deemed "fashion's next big thing" in the September (14) issue.

Her half-sister Nicole Richie, who has her own successful fashion line, frequently takes to social media to post her younger sibling's modelling portraits, including the most recent snap, in which Nicole added the caption, "Let's see what this b**ch looks like after 2 kids #whywhywhyyyy #imeanyoulooksopretty".

Sofia is the R&B hitmaker's daughter with ex-wife Diane Alexander.
