Lindsay Lohan slapped with new charges over car crash
Lindsay Lohan's legal troubles are continuing to mount - the actress has been slapped with four charges relating to a Los Angeles car crash back in June (12).
The Mean Girls star was on her way to work on the set of her Elizabeth Taylor TV biopic, Liz & Dick, when her hired Porsche collided with a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway, totalling the sports vehicle.
She escaped with only minor injuries and subsequently blamed a
mechanical fault with her brakes for the accident, after allegedly
telling police her assistant had been the one driving at the time
of the incident.
Lohan is now facing more jail time - on Thursday (29Nov12), the
Santa Monica City Attorney charged the actress with four crimes,
including giving false information to a police officer, obstructing
or resisting a police officer in the performance of his duty and
reckless driving.
According to TMZ.com, the troubled star will be arraigned when she
returns to Los Angeles from New York. A judge is expected to revoke
her probation related to her 2011 necklace theft conviction.
Thursday started out as a really bad day for Lohan - the 26 year
old was arrested in the early hours amid allegations she punched
Tiffany Eve Mitchell during an altercation in a Big Apple
nightclub. She was booked on a third-degree misdemeanour assault
charge and has since been released from custody and ordered to
attend a court hearing on 11 January (13).
It was the latest incident in a drama-filled year for Lohan - she
was arrested in September (12) when a pedestrian claimed she hit
him with her car, and she suffered another legal incident at a
Manhattan hotel days later when she accused a man of assaulting
her.
The hit-and-run case against Lohan was dropped due to insufficient
evidence, and charges against her alleged hotel attacker were also
dismissed.
Lohan is on probation from last year's (11) jewelry theft until
May, 2014.
