Liam Payne's joy at kidney recovery

One Direction star Liam Payne has spoken of his delight after discovering he has recovered from a childhood kidney problem.

The singer opened up about his health problem last year (11), revealing that he was "effectively dead" at birth.

He said, "From the age of zero to four, I was always in hospital having tests done but they couldn't find out what was wrong. They discovered that one of my kidneys wasn't working properly and it had scarred.

"I've still got both kidneys but one doesn't work so I have to be careful not to drink too much, even water, and I have to keep myself as healthy as possible."

Payne underwent a scan on Tuesday (07Aug12) and was stunned when medics delivered their verdict.

In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Just been for an ultrasound on my kidney turns out its fixed form (from) when I was a baby. So now I have two... weirdnewsoftheday."
