Liam Payne 'donates to girlfriend Cheryl's charity'
Liam Payne has reportedly donated a substantial amount of money to his girlfriend Cheryl's charity for her birthday.
The 34-year-old was rumored to have received a diamond ring from the One Direction singer, but editors at the Mail Online report she refused gifts from her boyfriend when she celebrated her birthday on Thursday (30Jun16).
However, the 22-year-old apparently opted to surprise his
girlfriend by donating a generous sum to her charitable foundation,
Cheryl's Trust, instead of splashing the cash on gifts.
A source told the outlet, "She was over the moon, she thought it
was a really lovely gesture. She's already got everything she
needs. It was an easy choice for Liam, he knew it was the right
thing to do."
Cheryl's Trust was founded by the former Girls Aloud singer in 2015
to help transform the lives of young people living in the North
East of England, where she is from.
The foundation is partnered with fellow youth charity The Prince's
Trust, which was founded by Britain's Prince Charles back in
1976.
Cheryl's Trust is in the process of building a state-of-the-art
youth center in Newcastle which will help the region’s most at-risk
young people, including those facing drug and alcohol abuse,
homelessness, mental health problems and those leaving care.
Cheryl split from second husband, French restaurateur Jean-Bernard
Fernandez-Versini, in 2015 after little more than a year of
marriage. It came after months of speculation about their union,
and now the singer is going solely by her first name.
She was previously married to soccer player Ashley Cole, but the
pair got divorced in 2010 after six years together.
