Leighton Meester's mom withdraws lawsuit against the actress

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester's mother has backed out of her bid to take her famous daughter to court for a share of her earnings.

The actress filed suit against her mom, Constance Meester, for reportedly using her monthly cash hand-outs for cosmetic surgery - instead of paying for her young brother Lex's medical bills - so Leighton stopped handing over the money.

Constance countersued, claiming she was contractually owed monetary support for previously sacrificing her own "happiness" to support her daughter's budding career. She also claimed that her daughter had breached various financial agreements, which were signed when Constance was president of Intentional Productions, Inc. - Leighton's talent agency.

But the TV star fought back in August (11), insisting her mother couldn't legally sue for "dependent adult financial abuse" as Constance was her guardian - and not vice-versa.

Constance has now backed down and a judge accepted the mom's motion to withdraw her answer to the Gossip Girl's lawsuit last week (ends11Dec11), giving Leighton a default judgement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress' bid to absolve her of any contractual relationship with her mom was also granted.
