Lark Voorhies shutting down Twitter account after hack
Actress Lark Voorhies is planning to shut down her Twitter account after a hacker posing as the star alleged she had been battling lupus.
Fans were duped on Thursday (03Dec15) after an impostor shared a lengthy note on an unverified Instagram page, detailing the struggle allegedly faced by the former Saved By The Bell star due to the chronic autoimmune disease.
The post also suggested Voorhies had been bullied over the toll the
illness had had on her appearance since her diagnosis in 2007.
However, a representative for the actress has since put a stop to
the false rumors.
"Lark has never been diagnosed with lupus," her spokesperson tells
People.com. "It's upsetting her that people are coming out about
it. She doesn't want to be perceived as someone faking an
illness."
The publicist goes on to insist Voorhies does not have a profile on
the photo-sharing site, and reveals she will be closing down her
official Twitter account after the hacker managed to link it to the
fake Instagram page.
The rep continues: "Somebody has hacked her Twitter account to the
point she is shutting it down... There are several unverified
Instagram accounts that are not hers."
Voorhies also addressed the fake posts on Twitter on Saturday
(05Dec15), writing, "For security and safety measures I will be
deactivating my Twitter account until further notice! LV".
The 41 year old has endured a tough few months after filing for
divorce from Jimmy Green in October (15), just six months after
eloping in Las Vegas following a whirlwind courtship which began on
Facebook last year (14).
Their union got off to a rocky start after Voorhies learned about
an outstanding warrant for Green's arrest for disorderly conduct
and threatening to intimidate, while her mother, Tricia, even went
as far as to obtain a temporary restraining order against her new
son-in-law.
Voorhies also recently denied reports she had filmed a sex tape
with Green, amid claims he was trying to shop the intimate footage
to the press following their split.
