Kid Cudi honored for work with mental illness charity
Rapper Kid Cudi has been honored for helping youths deal with mental illnesses.
The Day 'n' Nite hitmaker, who has struggled with his own depression issues in the past, was recognized at the Erasing the Stigma Leadership Awards in Beverly Hills, California on Thursday (24Apr14).
He shared a photo of his new accolade with his Twitter.com fans
after the event, which was organized by officials at the Didi
Hirsch Mental Health Services non-profit, and in the accompanying
caption, he wrote, "HUMBLED TO RECEIVE THIS AWARD FROM @DidiHirsch!
WHAT AN HONOR! GOD IS GREAT ALL THE TIME! BLESSED
#erasingthestigma".
Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, has served as Didi Hirsch's Mental
Health Ambassador after opening up about his own personal troubles
last year (13), when he revealed he had suffered an addiction to
anti-depressant medication, which had been prescribed to help him
deal with an "emotional breakdown" following a failed
relationship.
