Kevin Bacon's wife exchanges all his gifts of jewelry

Kevin Bacon has yet to master the art of picking out perfect presents for his wife Kyra Sedgwick - the actress had to return a recent anniversary present, over two decades after exchanging her engagement ring.

The Footloose star admits he still struggles to get it right whenever it comes to gifts for special occasions and he has gotten used to keeping the receipts.

Recalling the engagement ring he purchased in the late 1980s, he says, "I don't know anything about jewelry, so I went out and bought this ring that I thought was good...

"But about three months later, she wakes up in the middle of the night crying hysterically, and she's like... 'I have to talk to you... I don't like the ring'. So we took it back...

"I just got her something for our 25th anniversary - trust me, there were a lot of diamonds in that thing - she took that back too! She took it back along with something else that I had given her and got something that was bigger than the other two things...!"

Bacon and Sedgwick have been married since 1988.
