Kesha works on new material amid legal battle

Kesha has thrown herself into writing new material as she weathers her ongoing legal issues.

The singer posted a positive selfie on her Instagram account on Wednesday (23Mar16), sharing the happy news that she's been working on new material with her concerned fans.

It's the first sign that the singer is keen to get back to work even though she is enable to release new music until her legal woes with Sony and Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald, who she accused of "emotionally abuse and rape" over the course of their working relationship, are settled. The music producer has consistently denied Kesha's allegations.

"Been writing all day," Kesha, 29, wrote on her @iiswhoiis account to accompany a photo of the star with her trademark colourful dyed hair.

And she may not have to look far for new collaborators. Rapper Iggy Azalea has voiced her desire to work with the Tik Tok singer.

In a recent radio interview Iggy said she trying to "figure out" a way to duet with Kesha.

"I'm trying to do something with Kesha. I'm trying to figure out how I can make it work. She's got a lot going on and I really feel for her. I think she's so awesome," the 25-year-old said.

"We were talking the other day on the phone and I was like, 'I wish we would have made a song sooner.' Nobody anticipated this was going to happen and I have the perfect song for her and I'm trying to figure out if there is a way I can make this happen and so is she," she told The Cruz Show on Power.106FM in Los Angeles.

Kesha will also return to the stage on 11 June (16) as the headline act at the Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh's Pride in the Street event.

Pittsburgh Pride celebrates the city's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. The event will run from June 3 to 12, followed by an Equality March and Pridefest on June 12.

At a February hearing, a New York Supreme Court judge shut down Kesha's request for a preliminary injunction that would allow her to record music outside of her contract with Sony and Dr.Luke.

Last week (19March16), the singer's legal team filed an appeal to the New York Supreme Court regarding Justice Shirley Kornreich's dismissal of Kesha's preliminary injunction request.
