Kerry Washington: 'Revealing baby bump at Met Gala was fun'
Scandal actress Kerry Washington revealed she was pregnant at this year's Met Gala (16) when she realised she couldn't hide her bump anymore.
The 39-year-old is currently expecting her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, and in a new interview with People magazine, she explained why she chose to make the big reveal at the prestigious fashion event.
"I hadn’t been public about it (before then),” she said. “I still
haven’t made a statement about it because it’s not really how we
roll in my family. I knew by the Met Gala that I wouldn’t be able
to hide (my pregnancy). The idea that my bump made its debut at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art is pretty fun."
Kerry debuted her baby belly in style, wearing a black sequin Marc
Jacobs gown which featured a thigh-high split.
Kerry and Nnamdi, who also have two-year-old daughter Isabelle
together, are notoriously private about their family life, but
Kerry did reveal to People she has kept a number of her daughter's
baby clothes just in case she has another girl.
The couple's relationship only became public after they wed in
secret in Idaho in June, 2013, and she refused to comment on her
first pregnancy until three months after the news had first
surfaced.
"I will say I feel really, really blessed," Kerry previously gushed
to the Los Angeles Times after becoming a first-time mother. "I
just feel really blessed that I'm kind of living extraordinary
dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life."
The mum-to-be returned to work on the set of Scandal at the end of
last month (Jul16), after assuring fans of the show she would not
be letting baby halt filming.
