Kerry Washington received death threats after Obama speech
Kerry Washington had to steer clear of Twitter and Facebook after speaking at the Democratic National Convention last year (12) in support of President Barack Obama because Republican fans of her TV series Scandal wanted her dead.
The Django Unchained actress has never backed down from her political beliefs but found some of the backlash from her DNC appearance a little hard to stomach.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Our show has a very active life
on Twitter and Facebook, (but) I couldn't go near any of it because
there were threats to my life, sexism and racism. It was shocking
that me speaking at a convention incited all this anger. Thank God
for block on Twitter!
"(People were) disagreeing with my views, which I totally think is
great. I would never block somebody for disagreeing with me. But
the threats to my life... that's not so good."
