Keira Knightley and Emma Watson clear out closets for charity

Keira Knightley and Emma Watson are among the Hollywood stars who have donated their fashion favourites to a fundraising clothing sale.

The two actresses have cleared out their closets and donated a number of pieces to a charity initiative called Wardrobes For Women which has been put together by bosses at resale website Vestiaire Collective.

The sale will raise funds for Women for Women International, an organisation which helps females in war-torn countries rebuild their lives.

Keira has donated a Prada dress to the drive, and she tells Vogue, "It's a pity when beloved clothes sit dormant in my closet, so I am thrilled to be a part of Wardrobes for Women to give these clothes a new life... I love the simple elegance of this silk Prada dress, I wore it to a friend's birthday and it made me feel like a dream, I hope whoever ends up with this item will love it as much as I have."

Emma, who has offered up a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes, adds, "These... heels were my go-to for many special occasions. I hope the new owner makes them a signature staple in their wardrobe, and feels great every time they wear them."

Other stars who have donated clothes and accessories to the initiative include Lena Dunham, Diane Kruger, Chloe Sevigny, Lupita Nyong'o and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

The sale runs online at Vestiairecollective.com from 3 December (15) to 14 December (15).
