Kanye West 'pushed over edge' by anniversary of mum's funeral - report
Kanye West's recent breakdown was reportedly triggered by the anniversary of his mother Donda's funeral.
The Stronger rapper was hospitalized at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center last week (end27Nov16) after his erratic behavior sparked concern. He is now being treated for exhaustion and sleep deprivation at the medical facility, with reports emerging about just what caused him to snap.
According to TMZ.com, Kanye "was increasingly becoming a powder keg
of emotions in the weeks leading up to his hospitalization", with
pressures of his Saint Pablo Tour, running his businesses and
supporting wife Kim Kardashian after her armed robbery ordeal in
Paris last month all taking their toll.
A source added to the website "the trigger for the breakdown was
Donda's death back in November 2007. Her funeral was November 20 -
the same day he canceled his show at the L.A. Forum. The following
day - November 21 - Kanye canceled the remainder of the tour and
hours later suffered the breakdown.
"Kanye never effectively grieved over his mom's death and has
always had a difficult time in November, but this time he reached
the breaking point."
Kanye was expected to be discharged earlier this week, but after
being reviewed by doctors, it was apparently decided he is not yet
ready to leave.
The 39-year-old hitmaker spent the recent Thanksgiving holiday in
hospital, and has reportedly yet to be visited by his children -
three-year-old North and 11-month-old Saint.
A source close to the family told People.com that Kim has decided
against letting her offspring visit their father, because she "is
very worried about the kids being around Kanye."
The claim comes after the outlet reported Kanye was under "constant
watch" in the hospital due to his extreme paranoia causing concern
among his nearest and dearest.
"Kanye has big ups and big downs, but this bout seems to be much
more serious. In the hospital he has been very paranoid and is
under constant watch for his safety," a source previously told
People. "He’s still there because clearly he’s not doing well.”
Despite this, Kanye is said to have been working on new music and
even sketching fashion designs while in hospital.
