Kanye West pulls out of planned talk show visit
Rapper Kanye West has pulled out of a planned appearance to poke fun at himself on talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! due to "insurmountable logistics".
The Power hitmaker had agreed to join host Jimmy Kimmel at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas this week (ends20Mar15), when he was expected to take part in the show's regular 'mean tweets' segment, in which celebrities read out rude comments posted about them on Twitter.com.
TV producers also hoped to have West pre-tape a sketch poking fun
at his infamous interruptions, like he did to Beck at the Grammy
Awards last month (Feb15), to air on Friday (20Mar15), but the plan
never came to fruition.
Announcing the news in a show teaser on Wednesday (18Mar15), Kimmel
said, "Willie Nelson will be here in studio with us. Kanye West was
supposed to be here too, but he canceled - or maybe he's planning
to jump on stage unexpectedly to interrupt Willie. So if you do not
like Kanye West, make sure to tune in Friday night to not see
him."
A representative for Jimmy Kimmel Live! reveals producers are
hoping to welcome the hip-hop star in the future, saying, "We look
forward to having Kanye West back on the show."
Meanwhile, West's spokesperson tells the New York Post, "We were
never confirmed... We took extraordinary steps and worked directly
with the show to make it happen. Logistics were
insurmountable."
