Kanye West: I'm $53 million in debt

Written by . Published: February 14 2016

Kanye West has declared that he is $53 million in debt in a series of posts on Twitter.com, just days after he launched his latest fashion collection and unveiled his new album.

The rapper made the claim just before his appearance on TV show Saturday Night Live (13Feb16), and the same day that his much-anticipated new album, The Life of Pablo, was released.

"I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt... Please pray we overcome... This is my true heart...", he wrote on Saturday.

"This is all all is fun all in good feelings... We will all be gone 100 years from now but what did we do to help while we were here!!! They are calling me to the SNL stage now ... Speak soon..."

The rapper has yet to clarify his comments, and wife Kim Kardashian ignored his outburst and promoted the release of his new album on Jay Z's music streaming service Tidal instead. "I just officially signed up to TIDAL. Everyone Go get #TheLifeOfPablo," she wrote on Twitter.

It's not the first time that Kanye has discussed his money woes, as last year (15) he admitted that he was $16 million in debt, racked up as he tried to get his Yeezy clothing line established.

"I was trying to play a sport that’s a billionaire sport. It’s not a millionaire sport and I’m proud of the debt. I don’t care about somebody’s... house. I care about my vision," he told Black Entertainment Television (BET).

Kanye has made outlandish and controversial comments on the social media site in recent days, but took the time to defend Caitlyn Jenner earlier on Saturday after she was criticized for wearing an outfit designed by Kanye himself.

Uploading a photo of himself with the former Olympian wearing his designs at The Life of Pablo listening party in New York on Thursday (11Feb16), he wrote, "I'm proud of this picture with me and Caitlyn… She gave the most heartfelt speech at my wedding and was there in full support to see me realize this dream…"
