Kanye West demanded water bottles without labels at U.K. talk
Rapper Kanye West asked for all the labels to be peeled off bottles of mineral water served to him during a talk at Oxford University in England earlier this month (Mar15).
The hip-hop star was a guest lecturer at the revered institution on 2 March (15), and the university's student newspaper, the Oxford Tab, has now published the list of demands West gave organisers ahead of his appearance.
Organiser Abbas Kazmi reveals the star did not want branded labels
on his water bottles, and his last-minute request for a full-sized
mirror threw them into a panic until a female student saved the day
by carrying one down from her dorm room.
He tells the publication, "(West) wanted Volvic water bottles with
the labels removed, a small veggie platter, hummus, hot water and a
small variety of tea bags, double espresso available to be made if
requested, and raw asparagus. He asked for a full sized mirror too.
We couldn't buy one at short notice, (chain store) Argos said we
had to order it in. So one girl on the committee just had to carry
hers out of her room!"
Kazmi also reveals organisers had to bump talks from stars Ne-Yo
and Ludacris to make way for the rapper: "We were negotiating with
Ne-Yo and Ludacris this term but put them on hold when we got
Kanye."
