Justin Timberlake brands 'N Sync walkout his 'best/worst' moment

Justin Timberlake has branded his decision to walk away from 'N Sync at the height of the band's fame as the "best/worst" decision of his life.

The Bye Bye Bye hitmakers announced they were going on hiatus in 2002 after becoming one of the most successful pop acts in the world.

Timberlake went onto release his debut solo album Justified the same year (02), and it became an international smash hit.

The group never got back together and Timberlake admits walking away was one of the biggest risks of his life.

Appearing on Oprah's Master Class, he says, "I would wake up every morning feeling this more and more of an urge to step out on my own and try my own hand as a musician just by myself.

"It was happening all around me: 'Why wouldn't you ride this out? You're the biggest group in the world. Why would you walk away from this?'

"It's one of the best/worst things that I have ever done. It was hard to say goodbye to that era, but I felt it changing. I felt music changing. And I felt myself changing."

'N Sync reunited briefly during Timberlake's performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last year (13).
