Newlyweds Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have started married life by volunteering to help victims of superstorm Sandy in New York.

The stars wed in Italy last month (Oct12), and after returning from their honeymoon in Tanzania, they were spotted handing out supplies to those affected by the disaster at a shopping center in Rockaway, Queens on Saturday (10Nov12).

The pop star and his actress wife were photographed dishing out food and knapsacks full of essentials to members of the public, along with Timberlake's producer pal Timbaland.

Timberlake previously sent his sympathies to the victims of Sandy in a post on Twitter.com, writing, "Taking in the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy... my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that was affected."

Sandy devastated the East Coast when it hit on 29 October (12), with New York, New Jersey and North Carolina the worst affected, leaving millions without power, while hundreds lost their homes.

A number of other stars have contributed to aid efforts over the last few days - pop star Justin Bieber has pledged a portion of the proceeds from his upcoming shows in New York and New Jersey, and Lady Gaga has given $1 million to the American Red Cross.
