Justin Bieber ends Adele's reign on U.S. pop charts
Justin Bieber has scored another TransAtlantic number one after dethroning Adele at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in America, just days after making pop chart history in the U.K.
Bieber's Sorry has spent seven consecutive weeks playing runner-up to Adele's Hello on the countdown, but the wait is now over for his fans as the pop star takes over at the top.
The Canadian singer's new number one ties Outkast's The Way You
Move for the longest time spent at two before hitting the top
spot.
Bieber became the first artist in U.K. chart history to dominate
the top three spots on Friday (08Jan16). The pop superstar held on
to numbers one and two with Love Yourself and Sorry, respectively,
while What Do You Mean? climbed up a place to three, helping him
snag the new chart record.
Meanwhile, back in the Hot 100, Adele's Hello slides to two after
spending 10 weeks on top, while Bieber's Love Yourself stays put at
three, and Drake's Hotline Bling and Twenty One Pilots' Stressed
Out round out the new top five.
