Justin Bieber congratulates choir after losing out on Christmas number one spot
Justin Bieber proved he is a gracious loser by congratulating a charity choir on landing the coveted Christmas number one spot in the U.K., even though he was in direct competition with them.
The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS (National Health Service) Choir's track, A Bridge Over You, was number one in the charts on Friday (25Dec15), and the Canadian pop star was thrilled to have lost out on the prestigious honor of topping the rundown during the festive season.
"Just heard the news. Amazing. That is what Christmas is all about.
@Choir_NHS congrats!! Very cool," he wrote on Twitter.com on
Christmas Day.
In a heartfelt tweet earlier this week (23Dec15), Justin had urged
his fans to stop buying his single, Love Yourself, and download the
NHS charity choir track instead.
"I'm hearing this UK Christmas race is close...but the @Choir_NHS
single is for charity," he posted. "So for 1 week it's ok not to be
#1. Let's do the right thing & help them win. It's Christmas.
@Choir_NHS good luck. This is what it's all about. Merry Christmas
:)."
The choir eventually outsold rival Bieber by 31,000 copies,
according to editors at Britain's The Sun newspaper.
