Josh Hutcherson broke wind in front of Tom Hanks

Josh Hutcherson once noisily passed wind while working with Tom Hanks.

The two stars both appeared in 2004 Christmas movie The Polar Express, with Josh helping bring to life the computer generated role of Hero Boy while Tom transformed into various characters, including the train conductor and Santa Claus.

Speaking about the festive flick during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Wednesday night (22Nov17), The Hunger Games actor revealed an embarrassing incident that happened on set - something he's never spoken about until now.

"It was crazy, it was my first big movie, I was like nine years old and I was working with (director) Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks and all these people,” he recalled, explaining the motion capture technology used in the movie required the cast to wear "weird wet suits" and have dots on their faces.

Describing the incident as the "most embarrassing moment" of his entire life, and admitting it's a story which he can only tell now he’s appeared nude in new Hulu series Future Man, Josh continued, “I was shooting this scene with Tom Hanks, who’s like the father of the world, and we’re shooting this scene where he’s playing the hobo, and he’s on top of the train and he’s like skiing down, and I’m like nestling under him, and we’re like, ‘Whoa, this is crazy!’ And I farted. I farted in the scene – it happened, I did it, and instead of playing it cool, Tom Hanks is like (stands up), ‘WHOA! OH MY GOD! THIS KID! WHAT THE HECK!’”

Visibly getting red recalling the humorous occurrence, the 25-year-old again pointed out that it was his high-profile film and he couldn’t believe that he broke wind in Tom’s crotch.

Over time Josh grew to acknowledge that the Oscar winner poked him in “good humor”. However, despite now finding the whole thing “very funny”, it didn’t stop Josh’s anxiety at the time, as he added, “At that moment I thought my face was going to start sweating blood.”
