Joe Manganiello recovering from serious surgery - report
Actor Joe Manganiello was reportedly hospitalized over the weekend as he battled a serious case of appendicitis.
The 39-year-old True Blood star and his wife Sofia Vergara were due to serve as honorary co-chairs at the Stuart House Benefit event on Sunday (17Apr16), but neither attended because he was too ill.
The Magic Mike hunk pulled out of hosting the charity bash after
suffering unforeseen health issues, and now sources tell TMZ
Manganiello was admitted into hospital last week (end15Apr16) with
appendicitis.
Reports suggest he initially went to see doctors to have his
appendix removed, but surgeons found his condition was far more
severe than they had anticipated, and they were shocked to see his
appendix had actually burst.
The charity benefit event last weekend (16-17Apr16) wasn't the only
project Manganiello had to pull out of - he also dropped out of a
starring role in the History Channel's new series Six, about an
elite team of Navy SEALs attempting to eliminate a Taliban leader
in Afghanistan.
Filming began in February (16) but production was reportedly put on
hold after a "very manageable pre-existing" health concern prompted
Manganiello to quit. Many speculated the condition in question was
a previously torn tendon he sustained in his bicep while filming a
demanding stripper scene in Magic Mike XXL.
Now sources tell Variety The Hateful Eight star Walton Goggins has
been cast to replace Manganiello's in Six and the eight-episode
mini-series is expected to resume filming again by the end of next
week (29Apr16).
