Joan Rivers attacks Lena Dunham over 'stay fat' message
Comedienne Joan Rivers has slammed Girls creator and star Lena Dunham for sending what she insists is the wrong message to young girls about weight issues.
The 27-year-old has not been afraid to show off her curvier frame on the cult show, often appearing nude in many episodes.
However, Dunham's liberating stance on onscreen nudity doesn't fare
well with the catty comic, who tells shock jock Howard Stern that
she thinks the actress' image is not a positive one to impress on
viewers.
Rivers explains, "Lena Dunham, who again I think is terrific, how
could she wear dresses above the knee? You are sending a message
out to people saying, 'It's OK! Stay fat! Get diabetes! Everybody
die! Lose your fingers!'"
She went on, "I love that she's funny and love that she's done
well. But don't let them laugh at you physically. If you look the
way you look, Lena, and that's fine and you're funny, don't say
it's OK that other girls can look like this. Try to look
better."
