Jared Leto not ready to watch 'intense' Dallas Buyers Club

Rocker/actor Jared Leto made an early exit from the Hollywood premiere of the Dallas Buyers Club on Thursday (18Oct13) because he is not yet ready to watch his hardhitting new film.

The star shed 40 pounds (18.1 kilograms) to portray a HIV-positive transgender drug addict in the movie, which is based on a true story and set during the 1980s AIDS epidemic.

Leto hit the red carpet with his co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner at the Los Angeles premiere this week, but he decided to duck out before the screening began.

Leto, who has yet to see the film, tells The Hollywood Reporter, "I think it's better to let some time past. It was a very intense role and it's best if I just let go for a little while."
