Idina Menzel engaged to actor boyfriend

Singer and actress Idina Menzel is engaged.

The Frozen star, who was previously married to actor Taye Diggs, announced the big news on Twitter on Friday (23Sep16).

"As if this week couldn't get any better I have wonderful news... my man and I are engaged!" Idina wrote, adding, "We are so happy. It's a beautiful time."

The lucky guy is actor Aaron Lohr who has been dating Menzel for almost two years.

The couple went public with its romance 18 months ago at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. and in August, 2015, the pair moved in together after buying a house in Encino, California.

This will be Lohr's first marriage.

Menzel and Diggs separated in December, 2013, and officially ended their 10-year marriage in January, 2015. They have a seven-year-old son, named Walker.

The engagement news comes at a very busy time for Idina - she has signed up to tackle Bette Midler's role of aspiring singer CC in a TV movie version of the beloved 1988 film Beaches, and she's currently promoting new album, Idina, which she has described as her most personal project to date.

The singer recently revealed she shed a few tears when she first heard one new song, I See You, which she has recorded for the album, because the lyrics were so powerful, and she admits she still struggles to contain her emotions when she sings the tune while thinking about fans who are going through personal hells in their lives.

"I realised how profound it is and how many people out there wrestle with insecurities," Idina explains. "Someone that really looks at you, into your soul, into your eyes, and understands you... I think we all just wanna feel like we have that."
