Ian Somerhalder's Twitter hacked

Ian Somerhalder has thanked fans for their help in tracking down an Internet prankster who hacked the actor's Twitter.com page on Friday (14Jun13).

The Vampire Diaries star was alerted to the security breach by his followers when strange messages and links began popping up on his page on the social networking website.

Somerhalder responded quickly and struck up a dialogue with the hacker, urging the perpetrator to leave his account alone with the message, "You are an a** my friend. Get out of my acc (sic)."

The actor later posted a screen grab of his private conversation with the hacker, revealing the guilty party apologised and called a truce, and he went on to thank his fans for helping him sort the issue out.

In a post after regaining control of his account, he writes, "I love you people! Thanks for helping me. Love, The REAL Ian... My Twitter account hacker... was just having some fun he/she said. Now back to work filming today."
