Henry Cavill ignored as Superman in Times Square
Henry Cavill was ignored by fans as he strolled around New York City wearing a Superman T-shirt on Wednesday (16Mar16).
The British actor shot to fame as the comic book superhero in 2013 blockbuster Man of Steel, and he has reprised his role for the highly-anticipated sequel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which co-stars Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader.
However, Henry proved the spectacles he wears as nerdy Clark Kent
are enough to set Superman apart from his journalist alter ego as
he walked around busy tourist hotspot Times Square without catching
the attention of any film fans.
He shared a brief video of his outing on Instagram on Wednesday,
when he was featured standing under a billboard for the new action
epic, posing outside a burger joint, and walking into a Starbucks
coffee shop with his face and Superman T-shirt in clear view - and
no one seemed to care.
"Dear Doubter, The glasses are good enough. Regards, Superman," he
captioned the funny footage.
The news of Henry's social experiment emerges just days before the
new movie opens in cinemas next week (begs21Mar16).
Meanwhile, the actor recently explained how he managed to
understand what Clark Kent must go through to keep his superhero
identity under wraps.
"There is," he told SFX magazine when asked if there's a different
sense of physicality between portraying Clark and Superman.
"Imagine someone said, 'In a room of very, very short people,
whatever you do, don't stand out'. And then, when you get home, you
finally go, 'I can stand up straight and be tall...' That is what
Superman is. He's the guy who's at home who finally gets to be the
being that he is."
