Supermodel Heidi Klum spread a little festive cheer on Sunday (02Dec12) by helping distribute supplies and toys to New York communities hit hard by superstorm Sandy.

Thousands in the region are still struggling following the October (12) disaster, and residents of Lindenhurst and Seaford were grateful for Klum's visit.

In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "In Lindenhurst, New York celebrating their tree lighting and handing out toys..."

A fan subsequently messaged the model, stating, "Thank u (you) for taking the time to come to Lindenhurst after everything everyone's been through", prompting Klum to reply, "What an inspiring community!"

Klum then added, "Thanks AOL, Patch PR, Red Cross & Babies R Us for a truck filled with much needed supplies for the people in Seaford, NY."

The star also helped out with Sandy relief on Saturday (01Dec12) by hosting her postponed Halloween costume party in the Big Apple to raise money for the Red Cross' clean-up effort.
