Gwen Stefani thanks Blake Shelton for 'kissing me back to life'
Gwen Stefani thanked boyfriend Blake Shelton for "kissing me back to life" as she took home the Icon gong at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards on Monday night (14Nov16).
The 47-year-old singer looked stunning in an eye-catching Marchesa gown as she was recognized at the star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles.
While Gwen opted to take her brother as her date, with Blake
joining her later on in the evening, the No Doubt front woman
couldn't resist paying tribute to her beau for helping her get her
life back on track following her split from husband Gavin
Rossdale.
Taking to the stage to collect The Icon award from James Corden,
Gwen referenced Blake as she told him: "Thank you for kissing me
back to life."
An accompanying video of Gwen on the Glamour website went into more
depth about just how the country star has helped his girlfriend in
the wake of her marriage breakdown.
"This year has been mind-blowing," she said. "Just to know there
was a time I looked back and went, ‘Wow, there was a time when I
didn’t know how I was going to get through it’. It was really hard
to get the courage...
"Taking the pain and trying to make something great out of it is
what I really try to do. Right now I’m feeling a little bit like
Rocky at the top of the steps with the hands up going, ‘Woah!’ I
feel like a triumph because I know how hard I worked this year to
get myself into a peaceful place."
Other honorees at the ceremony included Zendaya, who was presented
with The Voice for Girls gong.
Collecting the prize, the former Disney Channel star told the
crowd: "Ladies, you are the leaders. You’re the future. We need
you. I’m with you. We’re all with you."
Meanwhile, Bono collected the inaugural Man of the Year gong at the
ceremony, accompanied by wife Ali Hewson.
The U2 singer admitted he's "really proud" to be taking home the
award, with Ali adding to TV show Extra: "I am, I like a bit of
woman in my man, too. The only men you can respect are the ones who
fight for women, like them enough to fight for women."
