Gina Rodriguez producing new female empowerment awards show
Actress Gina Rodriguez is helping to launch a new awards ceremony honoring young women for breaking boundaries across the world.
The Jane the Virgin star will pull double duty as producer and host of the inaugural Marie Claire Young Women's Honors, which Gina hopes will inspire youths and encourage her fellow females to embrace their "unlimited potential".
A statement released by the 32-year-old reads: "As a young Latina,
I had to break down barriers and overcome naysayers. When you see
someone following their dreams, it gives you allowance to follow
your own."
Gina will chair the panel of judges who will select the first
honorees from the fields of technology, science, and education,
among others.
The Marie Claire Young Women's Honors will air on the CW network in
December (16).
