Gina Rodriguez lends student a dress for prom
Gina Rodriguez played fairy godmother to a high school student and lent her a designer dress to wear to her prom.
The Jane The Virgin star lent Jessica Casanova the strapless, black Badgley Mischka gown Rodriguez wore to her first Golden Globes last year (15), when she won the award for Best Actress in a Television Series Comedy or Musical for the comedy drama series.
And after 17-year-old Jessica Casanova tweeted the actress while
watching her at the Golden Globes on TV, she the high school
student got the reply of her dreams.
"I tweeted to her after watching the Golden Globes and I said to
her, '"I so wish I could wear your Golden Globes dress to prom'",
Jessica recalled. "I would say maybe in an hour or an hour and a
half she replied and said, 'Maybe we can make this happen.' From
there it started to roll."
The Buffalo, New York student tried the dress on, and it fit
perfectly. "It feels really good," she told Entertainment Tonight.
"It fits like a glove!"
Jessica was being filmed by the entertainment show, as it followed
her getting ready for her prom. "If Gina's watching this, I love
you and I can't wait to hug you," she said.
And the surprises didn't finish there - Gina also had a special
video message for Jessica. "Just know I love you. I'm so proud of
you. I'm so excited for you," the actress said. "You look beautiful
and everybody will remember it - especially you!"
"l have no words, no other celebrity can compare to what she has
done," Jessica gushed before she was whisked off to her prom. "She
deserves everything in this entire world."
The gown, which will be returned to Gina, will then pass onto
another girl for her prom, continuing the paying-it-forward trend
set by the actress.
"I hope whoever gets it next, it goes in the right hands, because
it's something close to her heart and it means a lot to her,"
Jessica said. "I just hope it gets taken care of really well like
the way I am."
