Gigi Hadid recruited for Backstreet Boys video

Model Gigi Hadid has been recruited to star in a Backstreet Boys video as a favour to bandmember A.J. Mclean.

The 1990s pop veteran agreed to appear in an upcoming episode of TV show Lip Sync Battle along with his bandmate Nick Carter following persuasion from Gigi.

However, A.J. insisted the pair would only agree to the appearance if Gigi promised to star in an upcoming music promo for the boy band.

"We met Gigi for the very first time at (an) event up in New York, and she asked us to do it and I'm like, 'Of course!'" A.J. tells Etonline.com. "So, I said, 'The next time the Backstreet Boys have any kind of video, you gotta return the favour and be the main girl in one of our videos,' and she said, 'Absolutely, for sure'."

Gigi already has plenty of experience shooting pop music videos after playing a love interest for her real life boyfriend Cody Simpson in the video for his song Surfboard. She also appeared opposite Miguel in the promo clip for his 2014 song Simplethings, and in the video for Calvin Harris' latest track How Deep Is Your Love.

The catwalk beauty is now rumoured to be in a relationship with another pop star, former One Direction singer Zayn Malik. The pair has been linked since last year (15) after they were pictured together on numerous occasions, and they also shared a snap of themselves cuddling via social media.

Neither of them has confirmed the romance, but Zayn has admitted he prefers dating famous women.

"There's no real trust issues in a sense (when dating a famous woman)..." he told Britain's Culture magazine. "It's just life. The situations that I'm in grant me to be around them sort of people (sic), you know what I mean? And luckily, you get to have a conversation with them sort of people (sic). Because there's a lot of fit celebrity birds (women)."

Zayn, who was previously engaged to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, and Gigi have been spotted out together on numerous occasions, and they have also posted pictures of themselves together on social media.

Gigi previously dated Joe Jonas, but their on/off romance ended for good in early November (15).
