Jacob Tremblay to present at SAG Awards

Room star Jacob Tremblay will be joining the likes of Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore by presenting accolades at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday (30Jan16).

The nine-year-old actor has won over film fans and critics alike with his role as Jack in the drama movie, which follows a young boy and his mother (Brie Larson) after they escape from a kidnapper who's kept them captive. His fame is on the rise having scooped a Critics' Choice Award earlier this month (Jan16) and he'll next be on stage giving out an award at the SAG ceremony this weekend (30Jan16).

Jacob's also in the running for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on the night, up against the likes of Idris Elba and Christian Bale. His onscreen mother Brie is up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role and Brie will also be presenting during the evening.

Eddie's lead role in The Danish Girl makes him a front-runner for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, but if he doesn't win at least he'll hold the audience's attention while giving out a prize.

Joining them is Julianne, as well as Eva Longoria, Sarah Silverman and Priyanka Chopra. Bringing more fun to the event is comedy duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who have a special task at hand. The pair will be presenting actress, singer, comedian and writer Carol Burnett with the lifetime achievement award, which the organisation gives to those who promote the "finest ideals of the acting profession". Carol's achievement follows in the footsteps of big names such as Betty White, Clint Eastwood and Kirk Douglas.

Amy is a big fan of the 82-year-old and recently praised her work, especially her TV programme The Carol Burnett Show.

“We all hail Carol as the queen for a lot of reasons,” Amy gushed as part of a DVD on the show. “One is because we grew up watching her, and we will always have those memories of discovering comedy with her and through her. And the other is that she’s so versatile.”
