Future's choice to wear a mask to the 2017 Bet Awards has had a mixed reaction on social media.

The hip-hop star, real name Nayvadius Wilburn arrived at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night (25Jan17), holding the hand of his daughter Londyn Wilburn, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend India J.

Future wore a tuxedo and black gem-encrusted mask covering his mouth, while his little girl sported a pink sequin dress and similar gold mask.

Accordingly, the bold look has caught the attention of keen social media users, with fans drawing comparisons between Future's accessory and the costume worn by Tom Hardy's character Bane in 2012 Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.

"Future out there looking like a billionaire Bane," one user wrote on Twitter.

While another added, "Tell me why Future and his daughter Londyn are serving "high-fashion Bane" and "diva Mad Max" at the #BETAwards," another added, referring to the 2015 action movie Mad Max: Fury Road.

But Future wasn't just at the BET Awards to make a style statement, and also took to the stage for a rendition of his song Mask Off, with the help of surprise guest Kendrick Lamar. Kicking off the performance with the mask on his face, the star quickly ripped the prop off and launched into the track.

Though Future, who was nominated in the best male artist category at the ceremony, lost out on the prize to Lamar, he is still having a successful 2017. Following the launch of his back-to-back albums Future and HNDRXX in February, Mask Off has become the highest-charting single of his career, sitting at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
