Fox bosses: 'Naya Rivera has not been fired from Glee'
Network bosses at Fox have dismissed reports suggesting Naya Rivera has been fired from Glee over an alleged fight with co-star Lea Michele.
Reports suggested the singer/actress would not be back for the show's final season later this year (14), but executives have issued a statement in a bid to quash the story.
They state, "There is no truth to the rumor Naya has been fired
from the show. She remains under contract to Glee."
Meanwhile, Michele refused to comment on her alleged spat with
Rivera as she arrived at the premiere of her latest film, Legends
of Oz: Dorothy's Return, on Saturday (03May14).
But she was keen to praise her castmates for helping her cope in
the weeks and months following her on and offscreen boyfriend Cory
Monteith's overdose death last summer (13).
Michele said, "I owe so much to the cast of Glee. Loss is a
horrendous thing... Going to work and knowing that I had this
safety net underneath me, has gotten me to where I am right
now."
Rivera's publicist denied reports suggesting her client had been
fired from the show last week (ends02May14), and also lashed out at
media reports suggesting the actress/singer had been dropped by
label basses at Columbia.
She said, "Any rumors or statements made as fact, that Naya Rivera
was fired or let go from Glee or dropped from her recording
contract, are categorically false. Someone obviously has an agenda
to damage Naya's good name and the media are failing at their duty
to responsibly vet their sources and verify what is true and what
is not."
Rivera portrays Glee's lesbian character Santana Lopez.
