Eve Hewson tapped for Maid Marian role
Bono's actress daughter Eve Hewson is reportedly in talks to head into Sherwood Forest as Maid Marian in a planned Robin Hood: Origins film.
The Knick star is alleged to have beaten out competition from Belle actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vampire Academy's Lucy Fry and Dutch newcomer Gaite Jansen to get the casting call from Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathurst.
If she signs on, she will star opposite Kingsman: The Secret
Service star Taron Egerton, who has already been cast as a young
Robin Hood, according to Deadline.com.
Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson will
serve as co-producers on the project, which is expected to go into
production next summer (16).
It's one of four Robin Hood pictures in the works - Disney bosses
are developing Nottingham & Hood, while Warner Bros. executives
have hired Gangster Squad writer Will Beall to pen their take on
the folk tale, and Sony Pictures chiefs are working with Jerry
Bruckheimer on another film.
Cate Blanchett portrayed Maid Marian in Ridley Scott's 2010 release
Robin Hood, while Audrey Hepburn, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and
Olivia de Havilland have all also played Robin Hood's love interest
in previous films.
