Actress Eva Longoria will step up to the podium at the Democratic National Convention next month (Sep12) to rally support for President Barack Obama.

The Desperate Housewives star has been a leading celebrity force in Obama's bid for the White House since his first campaign for the 2008 elections, and she has been drumming up support, particularly among Latin Americans and women, for the party leader once again as he fights for a second term in office.

Longoria was made a co-chair for the Obama For America Movement earlier this year (12) and she has been asked to deliver a speech to voice her continued support for the politician at the upcoming event in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Democratic National Convention will take place from 4 to 6 September (12) and will see Obama officially accept the party's nomination for president ahead of the November (12) elections.
