Eminem concert prompts extra police presence
Eminem was faced with an enormous police presence at his concert in Scotland on Tuesday (20Aug13) just days after 60 fans were arrested at his gig in Ireland.
The star's concert in Dublin made headlines over the weekend (17-18Aug) when a photograph of a teenage girl performing a sex act at the event was posted on the Internet, sparking outrage.
Additional police officers were drafted in at Glasgow's
Bellahouston Park on Tuesday to ensure there was no repeat of the
multiple drink and drug arrests that hit the Irish concert.
Cops were also determined to avoid further scandal following
trouble at Swedish DJ Avicii's gig at the same Glasgow venue on
Saturday (17Aug13), when 29 people were arrested.
Chief Inspector Hazel Knight tells Britain's Daily Record, "Police
Scotland (provided) additional officers following concerns about
the behaviors of some of those at the weekend's concert. While the
vast majority of the crowd at the concert on Saturday were well
behaved, there was a small but significant minority whose behavior
blighted, if not ruined, the night for some people with their
drunken behavior."
No trouble was reported at the concert, which took place as part of
Glasgow's Summer Sessions series of gigs.
