Ed Sheeran surprises fans in Glasgow with impromptu gig

British singer Ed Sheeran shocked locals in Glasgow, Scotland by performing an impromptu gig there on Saturday night (08Nov14).

The Lego House hitmaker gave the house band at the Blue Dog cocktail bar a rest by jumping on stage to perform a few of his biggest hits.

The venue's manager Matt Roland tells British newspaper the Daily Record, "A few of Ed's team had been in the bar last week and liked it so much they brought him along for a few drinks. Our usual band was taking a break and he asked them if it would be ok if he used their equipment to do a few songs. He played one of his own songs and then a few covers, he was basically showboating to the crowd and they were loving it. He seemed like a nice guy, he said he would come back in after the MTV awards."

Sheeran was in town for a performance at the MTV European Music Awards, which took place in Glasgow on Sunday night (09Nov14).
