Dr. Luke: 'I never had sex with Kesha'
Music producer Dr. Luke denies raping Kesha, while accusing the singer of lying under oath as she pursues a lawsuit against him.
The pair are currently embroiled in a high-profile legal battle, after the Tik Tok hitmaker filed a sexual assault case against him in October, 2014, claiming her one-time mentor and musical collaborator subjected her to years of sexual, physical, verbal and emotional abuse.
But Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, insists he is
innocent, pleading his case on Twitter on Monday (22Feb16) - three
days after Kesha lost her bid to walk away from a contract she
claims ties her to the producer.
"I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her," he wrote
in a series of tweets. "Kesha and I were friends for many years and
she was like my little sister."
Dr. Luke filed a countersuit against Kesha and her mom, Pebe
Sebert, for defamation and extortion, alleging the mother-daughter
duo threatened to go public with sexual assault claims unless he
released her from the management contract the star, who is now 28
years old, signed with him when she was 18.
In his Twitter messages, the 42-year-old record producer shared
several photos of tabloid stories, with one headline that reads
'Kesha denied date rape by Dr. Luke in 2011 testimony, court
records reveal'.
He used this article as he accused Kesha of perjury, adding, "Kesha
has denied under oath the horrible allegations now being made
against me."
Dr. Luke maintained he is above reproach in this matter: "Imagine
if you or somebody you loved was publicly accused of a rape you
knew they didn't do. Imagine that," he tweeted. "I have 3 sisters,
a daughter, and a son with my girlfriend, and a feminist mom who
raised me right.
"Kesha and I made a lot of songs together and it was often good but
there were creative differences at times.
"It’s sad that she would turn a contract negotiation into something
so horrendous and untrue. But I feel confident when this is over
the lies will be exposed and the truth will prevail."
Meanwhile, Kesha is receiving the support of her peers after losing
her contract case in court on Friday (19Feb16). Taylor Swift has
donated $250,000 to help Kesha pay her legal fees and music
producers Zedd and Jack Antonoff have offered to work with her.
Demi Lovato, Lily Allen and Halsey have also offered the singer
their support.
