Diego Boneta to play Luis Miguel in TV series

Mexican actor Diego Boneta has signed on to portray singer Luis Miguel in a new TV series.

Luis Miguel, The Series is being touted as the only officially authorized TV drama about the famously private singer, according to Variety.com. It will air on Telemundo in America and via Netflix in Latin America and Spain next year (18).

The series is not the only show about Miguel in development - executives at Univision are working with Luis' longtime collaborator, producer Pedro Torres, on a show he is executive producing for his company, Curiosity Media Group.

"This series is part of our efforts to bring Univision's young and loyal fan base a robust line-up of highly quality programs whether they be unscripted realities, gritty crime dramas or biopics, such as this series on the legendary Luis Miguel," Lourdes Diaz, Univision's president of entertainment, said earlier this year (17).
