Demi Lovato denies calling out Nicki Minaj over Met Gala picture
Demi Lovato denies 'shading' Nicki Minaj over an awkward joint photograph from the 2016 Met Gala.
The Heart Attack singer and Nicki both wore outfits by Moschino to the New York fashion event on Monday night (02May16) and posed for pictures standing on either side of designer Jeremy Scott.
Nicki shared an image of the trio on her Instagram account and
failed to tag Demi in it. Demi then posted a different picture from
the Gala which showed Nicki giving her the evil eye as she
approaches the rapper and Jeremy to pose in front of
photographers.
In the caption, the 23 year-old revealed she found the whole event
so awkward that she wouldn't attend again, writing, "This picture
pretty much summed up my first and probably last met... #cool
#sof**kingawkward #notforme #sweatpants #forensicfiles #whatsgood."
Nicki used the expression "what's good?" to call out Miley Cyrus
live onstage during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
Demi also posted a selfie to Snapchat and wrote in the caption,
"When you aren't mentioned in a post but didn't do s**t to the
person..." followed by a crying with laughter emoji.
After fans on social media interpreted her posts as a blast at
Nicki, Demi added to her Instagram caption insisting that she
wasn't being mean about the Starships singer.
"p.s. some of y'all need to learn how to take a joke," she
explained. "I'm obviously laughing at the fact that 1. I look
incredibly awkward and 2. That the shade being thrown in this
picture actually gives me life."
She also replied to blogger Perez Hilton on Twitter, writing,
"relax.. I didn't shade anyone. If anything I shaded myself from
how awkward I look."
