Deadmau5 deletes social media accounts after Justin Bieber spat
Deadmau5 has released new music and deleted his social media accounts following a rant about Justin Bieber, according to reports.
The Canadian DJ posted a video on Thursday (17Dec15), slating Bieber for allegedly not writing any of the songs on his new album Purpose.
Editors at DailyMail.com report the DJ said in the clip on
Twitter.com, "I can accept that his album is probably good. What
I'm mad about is that none of this is (his)... What did you do? Oh,
you sang on it. Well, you know, I can credit you for having to be
able to hold a pitch on two syllables throughout an entire
75-minute album."
Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, then deleted the tweets, and
wrote in a post on his Facebook.com page, "F*** 'social media'. The
only thing it’s useful for is promoting, advertising, and more
advertising. As far as being a human being on social media, forget
about it. You’re just another number we can all add into our little
follower count, that ultimately adds up to NOTHING I require to
make music."
He then uploaded two new tracks, titled 00001 and 00002, before
deleting both his Twitter and Facebook accounts on Friday
(18Dec15), according to editors at NME.com.
Last week (ends13Dec15), the DJ was hospitalized following a lymph
node infection. He told his fans on Instagram.com that he snuck out
of the medical facility to play a gig for Red Bull in Miami,
Florida and then returned for more treatment.
Deadmau5 later revealed he was discharged to recover at home, and
wrote, "Back home. Everything is groovy..."
