David and Victoria Beckham pay tribute to the Queen
David and Victoria Beckham have capped Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee with a video tribute saluting the monarch for her 60-year reign.
The soccer superstar and his fashion designer wife were among the stars who heaped praise on the royal in a special video message, which was broadcast on U.K. TV on Tuesday (05Jun12) as the four-day jubilee celebrations drew to a close.
David spoke on behalf of the couple as he told the Queen, "I'd just
like to say from us, me, Victoria, our family and the entire
country, congratulations Your Majesty."
Little Britain funnyman David Walliams also recorded a clip in
which he joked about his charity swim across England's River
Thames.
He quipped, "Your Majesty, I just want to say thank you, and please
invite me to Buckingham Palace. It doesn't have to be after I swam
the Thames again or anything, just have me round for tea."
Former Prime Minister Tony Blair added, "Your Majesty,
congratulations on 60 years of extraordinary service, dedication
and commitment to our country. You can be immensely proud of what
you and your family have achieved for us, and we are immensely
proud of you."
Meanwhile, current Prime Minister David Cameron said the Diamond
Jubilee and upcoming Olympics Games showcased the "best of Britain"
to the world, declaring, "These are two extraordinary events."
