Chloe Grace Moretz picks up the feminism baton from Emma Watson

Teenage actress Chloe Grace Moretz has taken Emma Watson's lead on feminism by praising her for her stirring sexual equality speech at the United Nations headquarters at the weekend (20Sep14), and taking aim at Hollywood for its gender bias.

The Kick-Ass star admits she was impressed by the Harry Potter actress' poise and purpose as she took the ongoing issue of sexual discrimination to the next level in a speech that became a huge talking point.

In a new interview with MTV, Moretz defiantly insists she's a feminist, stating, "It's so nice to hear a young, educated, smart woman (like Watson)... She was so brave to go up at the U.N. and give that speech... I really respect her for what she did."

Now she's determined to help further the conversation, adding, "I did a lot of research on it (feminism) and I wanted to be educated on it... It's a huge problem in our business. We don't make hardly any of our decisions but when a guy walks into the room everyone just listens to what he says.

"You look on the scale of money and we make a third of what the male lead in our movies make, even if we're lead one and they're lead three."

The Carrie star's remarks have won her praise from Oscar winner Jessica Chastain, who tweeted a link to the MTV interview to her followers on Thursday (25Sep14), and wrote, "Love you @ChloeGMoretz! You've grown to be such a compassionate intelligent young woman. So happy to know you."
