Cheryl and Liam Payne have reportedly been blocked by planning officials from building a super-sized garage to house their $1.2 million car collection.

The pop couple has been renovating the $6.3 million pad bought by the former One Direction singer, since the former The X Factor judge moved in to his home in February (17), a month before she gave birth to their first child, Bear.

The mansion, situated in a the leafy suburb of Woking, Surrey, has an outbuilding that the pair wanted to transform into a super-sized garage with two separate storage rooms, but their plans have reportedly been quashed as council officials turned down their application.

According to the Mail Online, the couple had wanted to renovate the large space to store its six motors, worth over $1.2 million . However, Woking Borough Council were concerned about the impact on the "mature trees" in the garden and refused to grant them permission.

"The proposal represents inappropriate development within the Green Belt, which is, by definition, harmful to the Green Belt," the council stated in their ruling, reported the website. "No very special circumstances exist which would clearly outweigh the harm to the Green Belt by reason of inappropriateness."

The fleet of cars they wanted to house in the garage include Liam's 1960 Ford Anglia 105E, which was seen in movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Cheryl's Mulsanne Bentley and a Porsche.

Cheryl, 33, and Liam, 23, have been carrying out a multitude of renovations including turning the garage into a granny flat for Cheryl's mom Joan. And the grand designs for the house also include an indoor pool with its own tropical plant area, rockery, flowing stream and jacuzzi.
