Charlie Sheen's TV comeback a big hit
Charlie Sheen has hit a home run with his TV comeback - his new sitcom Anger Management debuted to record ratings on Thursday (28Jun12).
The actor signed up for the new comedy, based on Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson's 2003 movie of the same name, last year (11) after he was fired from his former sitcom job, Two and a Half Men, following a public bust-up with producers.
The much-hyped comedy, starring Sheen as a former baseball
ace-turned-anger management psychiatrist, premiered on network FX
on Thursday and it's already a big hit - 5.5 million people tuned
in to watch the first episode, while 5.7 million caught the second
installment of the show, which followed immediately afterwards.
The viewing figures make Anger Management the most-watched series
premiere of any show in the FX network's history, and the
most-watched scripted comedy broadcast in cable history.
The comedy has been picked up for a 10-episode run.
Celebrating the news, Sheen took to his Twitter.com page on Friday
(29Jun12) and wrote, "Thank you all for tuning in!!"
