Channing Tatum pranks office workers with Elvis impersonation
Channing Tatum recently stunned a group of unsuspecting office workers by posing as an Elvis Presley impersonator to promote his forthcoming Magic Mike Las Vegas strip show.
The actor donned a bejeweled white jumpsuit, a thick black wig, and a pair of sunglasses for the stunt, in which he welcomed guests into the elevator of an office building, and then practised his vocals.
Those who weren't scared away by The King's elaborate dance moves
were taken to the top floor, where a full Vegas-style casino had
been set up, complete with male strippers from the Magic Mike
show.
One woman was serenaded by Channing, disguised as Elvis, with a
rendition of Can't Help Falling in Love, while he recruited another
lady to help him try and memorise the words to Heartbreak
Hotel.
They were then led into the surprise party, where Channing removed
his wig to reveal his real identity to shocked employees.
"What the what?" exclaimed one fan, who couldn't believe her
eyes.
The stunt was filmed as part of a new initiative to raise funds for
Bono's AIDS charity, RED, via an Omaze.com raffle, through which
one lucky fan and a guest will win a trip to Sin City to attend the
premiere of Tatum's Magic Mike Live show at the Hard Rock Hotel and
Casino in March, 2017.
The exotic male revue was inspired by Channing's own stripper past,
which he turned into a movie with the release of Magic Mike in 2012
and its 2015 sequel Magic Mike XXL.
Announcing the new show in May (16), he admitted he would not be
appearing in the Vegas show, but he wouldn't rule out a cameo.
"If I'm ever in shape enough to actually do the show again, I will
absolutely step on stage, just because it's fun," Channing
explained. "I'm sure there'll be a lot of crazy cameos."
The star recruited Magic Mike choreographers Alison Faulk and
Teresa Espinosa to help create the moves for Magic Mike Live, which
"will recreate the mythic Club Domina with a sizzling 360-degree
dance and acrobatic strip tease spectacular, guaranteed to bring on
the heat," according to a press release.
In addition to Channing, the Magic Mike films also starred Joe
Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Alex Rodriguez and Kevin Nash.
